THE BRAIN INJURY CONNECTION, INC.

Support, Education, Advocacy & Awareness for Brain Injury Survivors in the FL Panhandle

“I feel like this is a much-needed service for our area. People with brain injuries are often misunderstood. They need love, support and nonjudgmental understanding from others, like our group members, focusing on our similarities rather than our differences.”

“A friend informed me about the BIC group in 2024. I was glad to find a local group consisting of other people dealing with the varying different effects of brain injuries. I don’t really belong to any social groups, so I look forward to going to the BIC support group meetings a couple of times each month.”

“No masks, no poker face, no hiding... it’s okay if we mess up words or if our face does something like a twitch, or if especially if we get emotional at these meetings—because at some point every TBI person has been there, somewhere on their own path.”

Tonya B. -BIC Member

“I attended my first meeting in September. I didn't know what to expect and my anxiety was through the roof, but I was met with comforting reassurance. That first meeting was very informative, including a handout on concussion symptoms which helped me realize what I was going through was typical and I wasn't crazy!"

"I learn from each and every one of the people there. We all have different brain injuries, we are all unique, but we get each other's struggles."

Kim C. -BIC Member

"I'm glad that there is a support group to helps survivors feel less alone. Our feelings and struggles are valid, we are 'different' since our injuries, and BIC provides support and friends that truly understand."
